Evoke feelings of happiness, warmth, and optimism; a variety of yellow gemstones are increasingly popular in the jewelry market worldwide. They catch the brilliant color like the sunshine and will add the most stunning beauty to every woman. Browse this article to find out the secrets of these bright yellow gemstones.

Topaz

Topaz comes into our mind when we talked about yellow gemstones. As a silicate mineral blending aluminum and fluorine, Topaz has been a gemstone in jewelry and various delicate ornaments for centuries. Typically, it’s colorless, but the trace element impurities will add many colors. Range from pale blue and golden brown to brilliant yellow.

The most welcomed Topaz is definitely in yellow. Sometimes, yellow Topaz might be considered citrine due to the same alluring color. But actually, yellow Topaz has different physical and optical properties than citrine, most notably greater hardness and brilliance.

Presenting a more natural color through the cut and polished form, yellow Topaz is quite popular in the jewelry market for its golden shimmer.

Citrine

citrine

Citrine refers to a variety of quartz with a series of colors from pale yellow to brown. Its beautiful yellow color results from the colloidal ferric hydroxide impurities. Actually, the natural citrine is quite rare among all the colorful crystalline quartz, sometimes appearing cloudy and smoky looks. Therefore, most commercial citrines are heat-treated amethysts or smoky quartzes with tiny lines and curves in the crystal.

Citrine was first appreciated as a golden-yellow gemstone in early jewelry dating back to ancient Greece, the Hellenistic Age. Before that time, it appeared as a kind of indoor decoration and tool without much popularity.

Recently, with the new “earth tone” appearance, many famous jewelers have started using this durable gemstone for important occasions like weddings, graduations, and anniversaries.

Golden South Sea Pearls

Golden South Sea Pearls

Golden South Sea pearls are the most charming for their sizable size and unparalleled gloss. Cultivated from the largest pearl-producing oyster for 2-4 years, they’re between 10-13 millimeters. The stunning color them is from pale champagne to deep intense gold. Generally, the deeper the gold color, the more valuable the pearl. The deepest golden pearl often refers as 24 karats, is the most valuable color of all South Sea pearls.

They have a very thick nacre layer that is very strong and resilient, making them ideal for making pearl jewelry. However, not all cultivated pearls can get a perfectly round shape. You can also find these beautiful golden pearls in drop and baroque shapes. They’re the first choice for making many stylish accessories.

Queen of Yellow Gemstones – Diamond

Tiffany Yellow Diamond

Although the commonest diamond is clear and transparent, the different colored diamonds are increasingly popular in the jewelry market nowadays. A little-known fact is that yellow is the second most usual fancy color in diamonds. The most desirable yellow diamond is pure yellow which gets its color from small amounts of nitrogen inside itself. But most yellow diamonds aren’t very pure and with traces of a secondary color.

The most renowned yellow diamond belongs to Tiffany. In 1878 one of the largest yellow diamonds emerged at the Kimberley Mine in the North Cape Province of South Africa. And it was purchased by Charles Tiffany, the New York jeweler who founded the world-famous firm Tiffany and Company in 1837.
